To understand better the website's needs, i need to understand
who is the potential users that will use this website
Research
The potential users
I wanted to give the focus on my personality in this portfolio
and the About page was the best match to do so!
The "About" section
The who?
I made an online survey with over 120 participants in the UX design
communities at the Whatsapp's groups who entered into my user
demographics and results - Which shown up here!
Beside that, I went to seniors at the leading tech companies who are
highly experienced hiring product designers and asked them about
the hiring process, their goals, needs and limitations, when it comes
to reviewing a candidate's portfolio.
Survey Insight
Drop of oil in the biggest ocean
Kick-off
There are many portfolios out there, They're all beautiful, special, and made
for one purpose only. So it’s hard to stand out. Also, it’s hard to be unique and popping up when my users (you guys!) have specific needs and limitations.
Understanding the challenge of the hiring process, Which is finding the
perfect candidate in a endless pile of portfolios to review, I set my goal to
create a portfolio that will show my professional skills beside my personality
and the human I am.
Tools & Softwares
I wanted to insert my personality and my character into the portfolio because I was tired from all the template-built portfolios out there. And from my research I understood that the hiring managers are getting really burned out from all those look alike portfolios, and I wanted not only to stand out - but putting a little smile on their face while watching it
The reason
Dr. Jeckyll & Mr. Hyde
The dissonance
Beside that, I knew that portfolios should be intuitive,
simple and easy to understand - Which preventing me to put all of my personality in the homepage.
So, I decided to be minimal and simple as Dr. Jackyll in the homepage, and colorful, experimental and edgy as Mr. Hyde at the about page.
